Wedding Arrangements - Cutting Costs and Corners

A wedding is an important event and people spend on it big time; but just because an event is important doesn't mean you should empty out your life savings. If you manage to find ways to cut some costs and bypass some unnecessary traditions at the wedding than there's nothing wrong with that. The biggest wedding expense by far is on the reception which includes the venue, the catering and the rentals. Most venues include the rentals like chairs and tables but some charge extra for it. Be sure of what's included in the venue package before you pay for it and ask in detail about anything that might result in you being charged extra.

Whenever deciding on a venue; ask your caterer to accompany you or to at least visit it once. Caterers may have the job of providing food for the wedding but they know from experience a lot of things like what room size will be appropriate and what you should and shouldn't be charged extra for.

Cut costs on the reception menu; it's by far the most costly thing of all the wedding arrangements. You don't need to have a big dinner or lunch if you're trying to save money. Buffet receptions have become a popular trend because they're cost effective. Use things that serve a double purpose like edible centerpieces like fresh fruit arrangements or fruit bouquets that can work as both centerpieces and desserts.

If your budget is modest confine your guest list to friends and family. You don't have to invite the whole office or your entire block. Inviting family and close friends has now become a trend for most weddings and it saves a lot of money on the reception.
