Although it's one aspect of the wedding it still takes up the largest part of your wedding budget. A wedding reception needs a venue, rentals and of course food and decorations. Then there's the serving staff you need to hire and wedding favors that you have to give away. For brides on a budget this can mean one of two things; either going over budget or having to compromise on something they really want at their wedding but can't afford.

There are some ways that brides can save on their reception expenses. While a backyard wedding may not be every bride's dream, there's nothing wrong with having a reception in your backyard. Marquee or tent rentals cost less than renting a banquet hall or any other venue.

Instead of renting table covers buy the fabric yourself; it'll cost less. Ask someone in your family (Like maybe your mom) to make it into a table cover for you as a wedding gift. Instead of renting props use fabric that you've bought as drapes. Buy ribbons from local shops and use them to add a delicate look to everything. You can take ribbons in different colors and tie them around chair backs.

Use your wedding favors or dessert as a centerpiece and save on flowers. If you've got gorgeous wedding favor boxes, pile them in the middle of tables and put a few flowers around it to make a centerpiece. Use desserts like fruit bouquets and fruit arrangements that look exquisite at the center of the table and can add a real spark to your wedding arrangements.
